6.6km superhighway to link NH-6, 2nd bridge in 2 years

Plakads Realty, a leading real estate firm, and advisory welcome the announcement by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) regarding the construction of a 6.6km elevated 6-lane superhighway on Kona Expressway to connect NH-6 and Vidyasagar Setu. The addition of a 4-lane road at surface level
will create a 10-lane high-speed corridor, ensuring the seamless movement of vehicles to and from Kolkata.
The Kona Expressway has been a perennial traffic snarl, causing inconvenience to commuters and leading to traffic congestion. The NHAI has planned to take up the Rs 2,000 crore project by the end of this year, with the construction work scheduled to be completed within two years.
Apart from the Kona Expressway project, the NHAI is also undertaking the construction of 356km of projects in Bengal, worth Rs 13,570 crore. The NHAI is also planning to award 270km of projects, worth Rs 25,000 crore, in Bengal in FY 2022-23. The enhanced road safety measures, including the declaration of some stretches as zero-fatality corridors, have been commendable.
